Rich Vernon (The Mission), Paul Smith (Helter Skelter) and Steve Hands (Peter Perrett & The Only Ones) team up as MANBIRD to create something special with a nod and a wink to people like Leonard Cohen, Bowie and The Dandy Warhols .

Think Tank, the lead song, is an outburst about the deluge of social media untruths drenching us. Unhealthy ideas are becoming ‘facts’ by repetition, and there’s people making money out of it. The song asks who those people are. 

 

The songs on this EP retain the drawling wry observation of the earlier work, but MANBIRD! has turned to face the here and now. Kazimierz surveys the brutal carousel of humanity’s inhumanity and Wrecking Ball is about betrayal and manipulative, self-seeking lovers and leaders.  

 

Rich Vernon, Steve Hands, and Paul Smith are now joined by Gwynfor Vernon. A multi-instrumentalist known for his work with Jamie Perrett and Deadbeat Mech, he adds a new colour and density to the MANBIRD! sound.

In line with the words, the music on the Think Tank EP has a greater intensity than previously. More pop, more punk, more psychedelia, while retaining the loud guitar, the groove and the infectious melodies. This is still MANBIRD! Only more so.
