Vinyl Floor Release New Single “I’m On The Upside” Ahead Of Forthcoming Album ‘balancing Act’

Copenhagen based rock duo Vinyl Floor are back with their new single “I’m on the Upside,” out now on Karmanian Records. It is the third single lifted from their upcoming album “Balancing Act”, due February 27, 2026, and it arrives sounding like the kind of song that makes you want to roll the windows down and drive somewhere you have never been before.

The track was recorded at Studio Möllan in Malmö, Sweden, produced by Emil Isaksson and Daniel Pedersen, and mixed and mastered by Søren Vestergaard at the Shelter. Drummer and co-founder Daniel Pedersen steps up to the microphone to handle lead vocals, and the song benefits enormously from his delivery. There is something refreshing about hearing a drummer sing his own story, and Daniel carries it well. Bassist Jakob Gulbrandt Koldenborg locks in underneath him, while Daniel Hecht (known from The Breakers and Franklin Zoo) contributes additional guitar alongside the band’s own Thomas Charlie Pedersen.

The result is an uptempo, guitar driven song with a warm retro feel that pulls from the kind of classic pop and rock songwriting Vinyl Floor have always loved. Rich vocal harmonies sit on top of a lively drum groove, and the whole thing moves with real energy without ever feeling rushed. It has that loose, lived in quality that tends to disappear when a band overthinks things.

Lyrically, “I’m on the Upside” is about curiosity and the quiet satisfaction of doing things your own way. It captures what it feels like to step back, watch the world from a distance, and realize you are perfectly okay with where you stand. The words are upbeat and the feeling behind them is genuine. It is not a song trying to convince anyone of anything. It is just an honest account of finding your own perspective and being glad you did.

Vinyl Floor was formed in 2007 by brothers Daniel Pedersen and Thomas Charlie Pedersen. Over the past two decades they have played more than 200 shows, toured the UK, Germany and Japan, and released six full length albums. Their music draws heavily on British rock and pop from the 1960s and 70s, though they have never been afraid to layer in both classical and contemporary touches when the song calls for it. “Balancing Act” will be their sixth studio album, following 2022’s “Funhouse Mirror”.

“I’m on the Upside” is four minutes and nine seconds of the band doing exactly what they do best. It feels good from the first bar and stays with you after it ends.
